Jay Lichtenberger

Broken Bow, NE- Jay Lichtenberger age 90, died August 2, 2022, at the Great Plains Health Medical Center in North Platte. Graveside services will be held on Monday, August 8, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Mason City Cemetery with Military Honors. A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2022, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with the family greeting friends 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Govier Brothers. Words of encouragement and remembrance can be left at www.govierbrothers.com Jay E. Lichtenberger was born on August 27, 1931, at Callaway, NE to Samuel and Lillie M. (Judson) Lichtenberger. Jay grew up in the Callaway area. He enlisted in the United State Army March 11, 1952, and was Honorably Discharged March 2, 1954 He was married to Reta Stithem of Mason City on March 24, 1955, in Broken Bow. The family moved to Fellows, CA in October of 1959. Jay worked in the oil fields. They later moved to Taft, CA. In 1993, Jay and Reta retired and moved to Mason City, NE. Jay and Reta enjoyed raising small animals. Reta died in 1999. After Reta’s death Jay moved to Broken Bow. Jay enjoyed playing pitch, gardening, watching the birds, and visiting with the guys at the local coffee shop. Jay is survived by his daughters, Debbie Lichtenberger of Broken Bow, and Tammy Hunt of Mason City. He is also survived by grandchildren: Misty James, Brandi Hudson, Amber Lichtenberger, Alissa McGoldrick, Jolee Pryor, Jason Lichtenberger, and Crystal Wright, numerous great, and great great grandchildren, a sister Naomi Warta of Kearney, a special friend Verna Leonard of York, NE, and many other families too numerous to mention. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Reta, sons Randy and Rodney and a daughter Peggie.
