Jerry “Bob” E. Johnson age 82, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2019 at the Rose Lane Home in Loup City, NE.
Bob was born July 5, 1937 in Valentine or J F Naskaheb near the South Dakota boarder on his grandparent’s ranch to Henry and Edna (Fike) Johnson. Bob the oldest child of four, two sisters Jeanie and Janice and one brother Herold Johnson. Bob graduated from Valentine High School, then attended Chardon State College.
Bob was a bull rider, a rodeo clown, flew an airplane, and worked for his dad’s trucking company. Bob’s dad and Bob owned 50 trucks and drove coast to coast.
Bob had two children, Keith and Mary Kay. Mary Kay passed away with cancer in 2011. Mary Kay lost her oldest son when he was 5, he was killed by a truck.
Bob married Betty Waltman; he took care of Betty for two years when she was sick in the hospital. Betty’s brother Ralph Ferguson needed a kidney, there was Bob with his to help Ralph out. For three years Bob drove Betty and Ralph’s wife Terri to the Vet’s Home in Grand Island to see Ralph. Bob himself broke his left femur leg bone in 2012, and then broke his right hip in 2017 and had a shoulder replaced. Bob was a kind person until the end, Bob had Alzheimer’s.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, sister Janice Johnson, daughter Mary Kay and one grandson.
Bob leaves behind his wife Betty of Broken Bow, son Keith Viles-Johnson of Booker, AR, sister Jeanie (Bruce) Johnson of Ainsworth, and brother Herold Johnson of Omaha.
Funeral services will be Friday, December 6, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow, NE with Rev. Ryan Findley officiating. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Township Cemetery.
