Broken Bow, NE – Jo Dan Curlee age 84 of Broken Bow, NE passed away December 15, 2024, at the Jennie M Melham Memorial Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Broken Bow Cemetery, with Military Honors by the US Coast Guard and Pastor Bob Klooz officiating. Govier Brothers Mortuary is assisting the family. Online words of encouragement may be left at www.govierbrothers.com.
Jo Dan was born July 29, 1940, in Hugo, Oklahoma to Joe and Marie (Kimbro) Curlee. The family moved to Chelan, Washington in 1946 where they worked in the apple orchards.
He graduated from Chelan High School in 1959 and went right into the Coast Guard. He was stationed in Port Angles, Washington, Ketchikan, Alaska, Astoria, Oregon, Seattle, Washinton, and Almeda, California.
Jo Dan married Willa Mae (Chapin) Baker in 1968. Upon his discharge from the Coast Guard in 1971, they moved back to Broken Bow where Willa Mae was from.
Jo Dan worked in several grocery stores. First at Jack & Jill, then IGA, and in 1991 went to work at Grocery Kart and became manager of the Dairy department until his retirement in 2006.
Jo Dan was preceded in death by his parents and wife Willa Mae.
Jo Dan is survived by stepdaughter Sherry Brestel of Broken Bow and step grandson Tim (Melissa) Brestel of Omaha.
