Joyce "Marlene" Madron

July 30, 1934 — May 10, 2019

Joyce "Marlene" Madron 84, of Kearney, NE died May 10, 2019, at Prairie View Gardens Assisted Living, Kearney, NE. She was born in Denton County, Texas to Joseph and Doris (Bowman) Parker.

Marlene graduated from Thedford High School. Due to a tragic accident at age 14 she never completed her high school education until her children graduated from high school. She was united in marriage to Joseph Donald Madron in Ft. Worth, TX on March 29, 1952. The family moved to the ranch south of Thedford March 15, 1955. She worked numerous jobs at Skelly Café, Thedford Sale Barn Café, she cooked at Thedford High School. She also worked 15 plus years at Halsey National Forest Bessey Tree Nursery. She was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church in Thedford for 47 years. She played the piano and accordion, taught Sunday School and lovingly served in any capacity asked.  After Don and Marlene sold their ranch and built a new home in Ogallala, NE, she was a member of Radiant Life Assembly of God in Ogallala, NE where she served as a Deaconess, Sunday School teacher, played the piano and led various Bible Studies. Marlene enjoyed playing the piano and accordion, sewing, cooking, feeding cows on the ranch and her many deer. She dearly loved and enjoyed her family.  In 2015 due to health issues, Don and Marlene moved to Kearney.

Marlene is survived by her son Mark (Rose) Madron of Verdon, NE: Daughter Marla Holthusen (Dale) of York, NE: sister Gloria Ingram (Gary) of N. Richland Hills, TX: Dawna Greer (Keith) of Ft. Worth, TX: Grandchildren Kristi Madron of Charlotte, NC:  Mindi Madron of Rogersville, AR:   Nathan Holthusen of Ogallala, NE:  Angela Loven of York, NE: and 13 Great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother.

A graveside service was held May 15, 2019, at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Thedford, NE.  Pastor Lance A. Loven officiated.

Music was by Mark Madron. Govier Brothers Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.   Memorials are suggested to Hillcrest Cemetery or Prairie View Gardens.  Memorials may be sent to Marla Holthusen 724 W. Walnut St. York, NE 68467
