June Morris age 100 of Mullen, NE passed away December 5, 2021, at Linden Court in North Platte, NE.
Jessie June Anders Morris was born at the ranch in Cherry County to James Lennie Anders and Rachel (Weatherston) Anders on June 6, 1921. She attended grade school at the Wells School and in 1938 graduated from Mullen High School, after graduation she taught rural school for three years.
On August 12th, 1940, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Simonson in Alliance, NE, to this union two children were born. Bernard Lee and Carla June Crawford.
They worked on the Lowe and Simonson ranch north of Seneca until 1954, when they acquired the ranch at Thedford. June worked at the Sale Barn Café in Thedford for seven years. Kenneth passed away in 1962, and she continued to live at the ranch and was united in marriage to Robert Morris on July 15, 1964.
In 1969 she moved to Corvallis, Oregon to care for her ailing sister. While there she was employed by Theta Chi Fraternity, a position she held for 15 years. They retired and moved back to Mullen in 1985. Robert passed away in 1991. June leased the ranch to her son and continued to live at Thedford in the summer.
June loved to cook and was happiest when she was in the kitchen, her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, past Matron of Sunshine Chapter in Thedford, past Matron of St. Mary’s Chapter in Corvallis, OR a member of Nydia Temple Daughter of the Nile, past President of Corvallis Nile Club, and a member of Broken Bow Does No. 68. She held several Grand Chapter offices both in Nebraska and Oregon.
June is survived by daughter Carla (Mike) Crawford, grandchildren; Roger Walter, Melanie Petrie, Gordon (Amy) Simonson, J.W. (Cindy) Simonson, Paulette (Chad) Ericsson, great grandchildren; Kalen Petrie, Jordyn Petrie, Dillon (Jessica) Simonson, Shaina Simonson, Jaylee Simonson, Alexis Ericsson, Alyssa Ericsson, and one great great grandchild Carver Simonson.
June was preceded in death by her parents James and Rachel Anders, husbands Kenneth Simonson and Bob Morris, a son and daughter-in-law Bernie and Lex Ann Simonson, great grandson Derrick Simonson, grand son-in-law Gordon Petrie, brother Leroy Anders, and a sister Eileen Dumont.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 9, 2021, at 9:30 am MT at the Seneca Auditorium in Seneca, NE with Pastor John Parsons officiating. Burial will be in the Seneca Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Donor’s Choice. A visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm MT at the Mullen Funeral Home in Mullen, NE.
