Funeral services will be held Friday, May 19, 2017 at 10:30AM at the Berean Church in Broken Bow, Nebraska with Pastor Tyce Jensen officiating. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, May 18, 2017 9:00 AM to 8PM with the family greeting friends 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow, Nebraska. Memorials may be made to Asera Care Hospice or the Berean Church. Kate Palmer, 91 of Berwyn went home to be with the Lord, May 15, 2017, at her home with her family by her side. Kate was born January 16, 1926 to Robert and Grace (Eggleston) Birnie, on Ryno Table at her grandparent’s home. She went to grade school at Ryno Table and graduated from high school by correspondence from the University of Nebraska. She attended Kearney State Teachers College in the summer of 1947. Kate taught school for the next 5 years. In 1944 she accepted Christ as her savior at Camp Joy. Kate attended the Berean Church in Broken Bow and taught Sunday school and Bible Time for 35 years. She continued attending there until the time of her death. Kate was united in marriage to Lynn Palmer on September 26, 1948. To this union, three sons were born; Steve, Wayne and Rodney. They made their home in various places in Custer County, doing farming. In 1991 they settled north of Berwyn, and she resided there until her death. Survivors include her son; Steve (Connie) Palmer of Riverdale, daughter – in- law Sheri Palmer of Ansley and son; Rodney (Candra) Palmer of Ansley. Brother Lon Birnie of Callaway and a sister Gracella Birnie of Broken Bow, seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Lynn, son Wayne, Sister Flora, three Brothers John, Elmer and Bob and granddaughter Michelle. Govier Brothers Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
