Kenneth Ray Sheets age 73, of Arnold, NE, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at the Callaway Good Life Center in Callaway, NE.
Funeral services for Kenneth will be Monday, October 1, 2018, at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Arnold with Pastor Bill Williams officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 1, 2018, from 8:00 AM to service time at the United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the Arnold Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Arnold Library or the Arnold United Methodist Church. Arnold Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences can be left at www.govierbrothers.com
Kenneth Ray Sheets was born January 31, 1945, in Ainsworth, Nebraska, to Wiley and Hazel Sheets of Arnold, Nebraska. He went to school in Arnold, with an I year stint at a country school in Mills Valley, where they lived. He got his GED from Merna High School after he was married.
He married Marla Hall on January 4, 1963, and they lived near Merna, NE, where he worked for Floyd Grantzinger. To this union were born 4 children, Brad, Kendra, Jeff, and Shirla. Years later, after he and Marla divorced, he worked for Darrel Peters, of Arnold for several years. He later worked for his uncle, Harold Sheets, with Chief grain bin construction, and briefly for Steve Breuer. His latest job was working for Cory Peterson. He loved farming and was a very hard, conscientious worker. Two years ago, he suffered a stroke, and never really recovered from it.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wiley, sister-in-law Ardelle Sheets, brother-in-law Wes Larreau, and 2 nephews, Dennis Larreau and Steve Sheets.
He is survived by his mother, Hazel Sheets, of Gothenburg; his 4 children, Brad, Kendra (Mike) Nelson, and Shirla Streit, all of Arnold, and Jeff (Jennifer) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; brothers David, of Loveland, Colorado, Darrel (Teruko) of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; sisters Marge (Roger) Maller of Oakland, Nebraska, Dorothy Larreau of Arnold, and Jeane (Steve) Breuer of Gothenburg, Nebraska; 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandsons, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
