Kenneth Welch

Kenneth D. Welch, age 87 of Callaway, Nebraska died Saturday February 10, 2018 at the Callaway District Hospital in Callaway. A Memorial service will follow at a later date. Kenneth D. Welch was born November 11, 1930 in Friend, Nebraska to Jim and Maurine (Aitken) Welch.  The family moved to Bartlett, Ne. and Ken graduated from Bartlett High School in 1948.  Kenneth then attended Wayne State College and began teaching in a rural school following his education.  From 1952 to 1954 Kenneth served with the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict.  On May 23, 1955 Kenneth was united in marriage to Jean Fink and they celebrated 62 years of marriage.  They relocated from Bartlett to Callaway in 1969.  Kenneth work several years in farming and later at Becton Dickinson plant in Broken Bow. Kenneth is survived by his wife Jean Welch of Callaway, a son David Welch of Grand Island, a daughter Melanie Welch of Broken Bow, 3 grandchildren Linsey (David) Welch-Donner of Omaha, Kelsey (Jeff) Welch Dady of Lincoln, Ne., and Bradan Welch and finance Anna Petersen of Omaha.  Four great grand children William, Arlin, Evelyn, and Easton.  A sister Norma Fink, extended family Anne Welch and other relatives and friends.   Kenneth was preceded in death by a son Dennis, daughter Valerie, his parents, and a brother-in-law Neal. Memorials are suggested to the Callaway EMT’s and Rescue Unit.
