Larry Leon Young “LY” was born November 19, 1946, in Loup City, NE to Glenn and Blanche (Loyd) Young. Larry was the youngest boy out of 13 siblings. He grew up in the Litchfield area as a young boy, then later graduated from Litchfield High School in 1965. A year later May 10, 1966, Larry enlisted in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged April 8, 1968. After his time in the service, he became a member of the Comstock American Legion Post #220.
On September 2, 1972, in Sargent, NE, Larry was united in marriage to Patricia “Pat” Keefe. The couple then made their temporary home in Ansley. To this union two sons were born, Jason in February of 1973, and soon to be followed by Justin in August of 1977. Later Larry and Pat moved to Comstock, where they stayed as they built up their ranch. Larry and Pat did most of the cowboy-in together until the boys got older and were able to pitch in.
Larry enjoyed being on horseback moving a herd of cattle the most. He loved spending time in the saddle and even more when his family was with him. He was a man of his word, and his handshake was unmistakably genuine. Larry was always proud of his family’s accomplishments and looked forward to visiting with them about their interests, whether it was sports-related, showing cattle, rodeo, or whatever else it may be. Family and friends were very important to Larry; he never knew a stranger. He had a heart of gold and wouldn’t hesitate to help those in need. Larry left a legacy of love and always made sure his family knew how much he cared for them.
Larry is survived by his wife Pat of 52 years, son Jason (Stacy) Young, nephew Bryan Glendy, three grandchildren Jaylin Young, Brianna Glendy, and Aaron Glendy, and siblings.
Larry was preceded by his parents Glenn and Blanche, his son Justin, and numerous siblings.
