Lee Ray

Lee Albert Ray age 70, died on September 1, 2022, at his home in Thedford, Nebraska.  He was born April 2, 1952, in Tecumseh, Nebraska to Calvin and Betty Jane (Porterfield) Ray. 

Lee graduated from Syracuse High School in 1970.  He married Vicki Dunning on December 12, 1970, in Lincoln, Nebraska. To this union were born three children Jamie, Seth, and Jody.

The Rays moved to Brownlee, Nebraska where Lee worked as a ranch hand for 5 years before settling in Thedford.  Lee spent over 25 years working in insurance and ranching before starting a family custom haying business in 2012.

Lee’s kids and grandkids were the joy of his life.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Elizabeth Brown, and brother Patrick Ray.

He is survived by his wife Vicki of 51 years, children Jamie and Bill Taylor, Seth and Bec Ray, and Jody Ray, all of Thedford, grandchildren Cole Taylor of Salina, Kansas, Madison and Dillon Whitmarsh of Valley Center, Kansas, Avery and Tyler Swisher of Thedford, Marlee Taylor of Hastings, Nebraska, Emma and Paisley Ray of Thedford, one great granddaughter Riley Rae Swisher, sisters Claudia Horton of Seward, Nebraska, Janelle Duntz of Lincoln, Nebraska and Janette Yencensky of Rapid City, South Dakota.

Cremation was chosen and a private family graveside service will be at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to ST Knights Youth Volleyball/Basketball programs.
