Leonard Leroy Amos age 82 of Sargent, NE passed away July 8, 2023, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burweill, NE.

Memorial Graveside services with Military Honors will be Thursday, July 13, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Dry Valley Cemetery south of Sargent, NE. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Govier Brothers Mortuary are in charge of arrangements. Leonard was born May 29, 1941, and was the sixth son born to Otto and Florence Edna (Oliver) Amos. He was the youngest and last surviving of the Amos brothers. His brothers were Ken, Gordon, Otto, Gerald, and Marvin. He was born and grew up in the Dry Valley area where his family farmed. Leonard attended a one room school in Dry Valley and finished his education at Sargent Public School.

Leonard served in the Army from 1963 to 1965 and was in the Vietnam War. He received an infantry badge, a Vietnam service metal, a marksman (M16) badge, and an expert rifle (M1) and (M79) badge.

Leonard married Ruby Louise Kneofler on August 3, 1971, in Riverside, California. The couple raised two boys, Tony and Tom Amos in Sargent, NE. Leonard opened his own welding and Aquarium business which he ran until taking over Sargent’s Sanitation Service with the help of his brother Ken. Leonard was hard working and a jack of all trades. Some of his skills included bee keeping, gardening, mechanics, and construction. Leonard was a fun-loving generous soul who would always be willing to help someone in need. He was also very clever, witty, and guaranteed to evoke a smile or a laugh from everyone he knew.

Leonard will be greatly missed here but is now united with wife Ruby who passed away on May 16, 2003.

Survivors include Tony (Christy) Amos of North Platte, Tom Amos of Sargent, two grandsons Toby and Brayden of North Platte.
