Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Berean Bible Church in Broken Bow, NE. Burial will follow in the Merna Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Merna. A visitation will be held on Friday, October 25th from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, with the family greeting 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Leonard Joseph Daake, age 65 of Merna, NE passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. Leonard was born in Kearney, NE to Harold and Margaret (Zimmer) Daake. He graduated from Amherst High School in 1977. Leonard married Yolanda Debban in 1978, and together they made their home north of Merna, NE, where Leonard began his farming career. Together they had two children and in 2000, Yolanda lost her own fight with cancer. In 2010, Leonard married Denise Clark. He was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Merna and a member of the local Farmer's co-op board. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, spending time at his cabin, being out in the hills checking steers, farming, and visiting with and helping his friends and neighbors.
Leonard is survived by his wife Denise; his children Sadie (Canton) Cole and Ross (Shantel) Daake; step-daughters Jessica (Stephen) Mittelstaedt, Mattie (Marty) Demoret, and Deena (Dusty) Nipper; grandchildren Martha, Abram, Arthur, River, Carver, Peyton, Brooklynn, Norah, Leighton, Elias, Eden, Luca, Caylee, Atley, Cainan, and Paxton; his mothers-in-law Eileen Debban and Rose Hirsch; sisters Bernadine Dauel, Marie (Mel) Menke, and Carol (Roger) Buoy; brother Greg (Jan) Daake, sisters-in-law Betty Daake, Deb Gribble, and Kendra (David) Weibe; brothers-in-law Darrell (Jan) Hirsch and Paul (Judy) Debban.
He is preceded in death by his wife Yolanda, his parents Harold and Margaret, his fathers-in-law Harold Debban and Wayne Hirsch, his brother Harold (Cork) Daake, and brother-in-law Ed Dauel."
