Lois Lucile Willoughby age 90, went to be with Jesus on December 3, 2020 while residing in Omaha, Nebraska. Lois was born on August 31st, 1930 to Marius and Lydia (Cegavske) Nelson in Mason City, Nebraska. She was a tomboy growing up and loved riding her pony, Captain. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1947. Lois rode her horse to teach at Box Elder School for two years and then Berwyn School for two years. On February 24, 1952, Lois married her high school sweetheart Dean Willoughby. After returning from Dean’s two years of service in the Army, the couple farmed for the next 46 years two miles east of Mason City. Together they raised three children: Janet, John, and JoAnn. Lois was serving member of the First Baptist Church of Mason City, American Legion Auxiliary, and Community Service Club.

In 2000, Dean and Lois moved to Lincoln where they continued to keep strong relationships with the Mason City community and attended Second Baptist Church.

Lois valued two things in her life: God and her family. She loved nothing more than being a grandmother. Her grandchildren loved to visit her on the farm where she taught them how to bake, sew, and properly make the bed. Some of the grandchildren’s best memories with Lois are riding horses, exploring the Muddy Creek, playing with kittens, attending church and bible school, playing the piano, learning to crochet, eating vanilla ice cream, putting up corn, tending the garden, and visiting great-grandma Lydia. After Lois moved to Lincoln, the grandchildren always made their way to Grandma’s house for a home cooked meal, clean laundry and a leisurely walk through the neighborhood.

Lois was preceded in death by husband Dean, granddaughter Danielle Willoughby, brother Norman and sisters-in-law Donna Nelson and Evelyn (Willoughby) Davis.

Lois is survived by three children: Janet (Dell) Tschudin, John (Joyce) Willoughby, and JoAnn (Clarence) Schuster; eleven grandchildren, Christen Tschudin, Erin (Ryan) Stubbe, Paul (Courtney) Tschudin; Megan (Bryce) Consbruck, Amber Willoughby, Taylor (Luke) Glenn, and Johnna Willoughby; Sarah (Caleb) Leviege, Andrew (Julissa) Schuster, Jessica (Stephan) Long, Brittney Schuster; and great -grandchildren; Landon and Olivia Stubbe; Sophia, Teanna, and Scarlett Tschudin; Coy Consbruck; Aliyah, Kiya and CJ Leviege; Jada, Abram and Becca Schuster.

Lois’ family finds peace in witnessing her love for Jesus and that she is reunited with her husband Dean, granddaughter Danielle Willougby, and numerous family and friends.
