Margaret Rosalie (Schaad) Burton, age 99 passed away Sunday, February 4, 2024, at the Good Life Center in Callaway, Nebraska.
She was born September 26, 1924, at the family farm on Cliff Table ten miles west of Merna. She was the third of eight children born to Fred and Esther May (Runkey) Schaad. As a young girl Margaret placed her faith in Jesus through the influence of a godly mother and teaching, she received at Cliff Union Church.
Margaret received her elementary education K-8th grade at Fairview, a one-room schoolhouse 1 ½ mile from the family farm. She attended Merna High School, graduating in 1942. She was married to Ira Sylvester Burton Jr. on August 28, 1944.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Ira of 51 years on December 27, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister Phyllis, brother Elwin Schaad, sister Lucille Minnick, brother Leroy Schaad, sister Flora Belle Schaad, brother Leland Schaad, and sister Alice Schaad.
She is survived by a son Dr. Lloyd Burton and wife Sandra of Colorado Springs, Colorado, daughter Carol Williams and husband Ross of Eddyville, Nebraska, son Clifton Burton and wife Anne of Ozark, Missouri, and daughter Beverly Jensen and husband Terry, of Broken Bow. Ten grandchildren, Bryce (Diana) Williams of Eddyville, Nebraska Laurel Jensen (Jason) Kuskie of Broken Bow, Nebraska Eric (Stacey) Burton of Palmer Lake, Colorado Ira Greg (Tara) Williams of Broken Bow, Nebraska Chris (Stephanie) Jensen of Blanco, Texas Matthew Burton of Lincoln, Nebraska Alex (Melanie) Burton of Colorado, Springs, Colorado Neil Burton of Lincoln, Nebraska Tyce (Bethany) Jensen of Broken Bow, Nebraska Lindie Jensen (Adam) Patterson of Columbia Falls, Montana, Twenty five great-grandchildren and seven great-great Grandsons, Sister-in-law Carol Schaad of Des Moines, Iowa, and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Margaret will be held Friday, February 9, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the Berean Bible Church in Broken Bow, NE with Tyce Jensen officiating. The burial will be in the Merna Cemetery led by Larry DeMoss. Memorials given will be designated to a Christian Ministry(s) by the family. A visitation will be held Thursday, February 8, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow, NE and with the family receiving friends 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
