Marilyn Burkert age 70 formerly of the Broken Bow area passed away January 28, 2024, in Phoenix, Arizona.

Memorial Services will be held Monday, March 11, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Evangelical Free Church in Sargent, NE. Govier Brothers Mortuary are assisting with arrangements. An online guest book may be signed at www.govierbrothers.com.

Marilyn was born July 8, 1953, in Rosebud, South Dakota. At the age of 13, she was adopted by Sam and Florence Scott. Marilyn grew up in Broken Bow, graduating from Broken Bow High School. After high school Marilyn worked at Sandhills Manor. She was united in marriage to Gary Schulenberg, and born to this union were four children Shawna, Tony, Dion, and Carlos. The couple later divorced.

Later, Marilyn married Billy Burkert, and the couple made their home in Arizona. Billy passed away on May 9th, 2019, and Marilyn continued to make her home in Arizona. Marilyn enjoyed crafts making Native Beading and Dream Catchers. Church was very important to her. Her greatest love was her cats.

Marilyn is survived by her children, daughter Shawna Grim of Broken Bow, sons Tony Schulenberg of Horton, KS, Dion Schulenberg of Nebraska, and Carlos of Falls City, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Billy Burkert, parents Sam and Florence Scott, and a great-granddaughter Watseka Rain Hundstad.
