Marion E. Mason

Marion E. Mason, age 86 of Eustis, Nebraska formerly of Anselmo, Nebraska died Sunday October 29, 2017 at the Cozad Care and Rehabilitation Center.   Funeral services will be held Friday Nov. 3, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Govier Brothers chapel in Broken Bow, Ne with Pastor Michael Boling officiating. Masonic Rites will be conducted by the Masonic Chapter 148. Burial will be in the Grand View at Anselmo, Nebraska.  Visitation will be Thursday Nov. 2, 2017 at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. with family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.  Memorials may be made to the Anselmo Merna Foundation, or the Shriners Childrens Hospital.    Marion Ellery Mason was born June 14, 1931 at Anselmo, Nebraska to Harry and Joyce (Dixen) Mason.  Marion was the youngest of six children; four brothers were Darrell, Donald, Kenneth, Russell and a sister Maxine.   Marion was preceded in death by his parents, all his siblings, three sister in laws, and his brother in law.   Marion is survived y his wife Irene of Eustis; his two sons, David (Valerie) of Minatare, NE and Tim (Kristi) of Anselmo.  He is survived by three step children Lyle (Cheryl) Page of Eustis, Tammy (Timothy) Brown and Carolyn (Richard) Armstead of Cozad.  Marion has six grandchildren; Logan Mason of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Kaitlyn Mason of Gothenburg, Jeffrey Mason of Ithica, NE, Jeremy Mason of Scottsbluff, Shane Knapp of Scottsbluff and Beckie (Heath)Tuttle of Lincoln.  Seven step grandchildren; Kari (Cody) Mohlman of Holdrege, Kevin (Ranae) Page of Eustis, Sara Brown of McCook, NE,Ryan, Nicole Brown of Cozad, Stephanie (Cody) Wolf of Cozad and Matthew Armstead of Cozad.    Five great grandchildren; Kaleigh Mason of Ithica, Niah, London and Memphis Mason of Scottsbluff, and Alexandria Knapp of Scottsbluff.  Five step great grandchildren; Samual Winter of Cozad, Cadey Wolf of Cozad, Ryann Kloepping of Eustis, Whitney Page of Eustis, and Wyatt Page of Eustis.  Three great great grandchildren; Maddy, Jaydon and Tallon in Scottsbluff.  He is also survived by his sisters in law;  Bonnie Mason of Omaha and Alvina Avery of Lincoln.  He is also survived y several special nieces and nephews and friends.   Marion’s life was spent as a rancher/farmer.  He drove school bus for Anselmo/Merna for 33 years.  He also was the score keeper for AM Basketball.  Even after no longer driving bus he still attended the games.  He served in the Broken Bow National Guard for 10 years.  Marion belonged to the Anselmo/Broken Bow Masonic lodge for over 60 years.  Marion was a dual member when he joined the Tri County Masons and Shriners at Lexington.   Marion belonged to the Hastings Tehama Shriners since October 1982.  He has recommended some children get helped at the Shriner Hospital in Minneapolis Minnesota.  He has also driven some children to that hospital.   Marion was seen in many parades around the Broken Bow area with the Loup Valleys Shrine Club.  He enjoyed the parades and always put Barney on the front of his cub and enjoyed the children hollering “There’s Barney”!   Marion was very active in 4-H, he took pride in the kids activities in 4-H.
