Mary Elizabeth (Maribeth) Childers was born on October 4, 1917, in Rolf, NE., to John and Lucy (Dickey) McMurtrey. They lived on the McMurtrey ranch that is located in the sandhills. She attended school in a small frame country school. As she got older, a ranch hand named Robert (Bob) Childers dated her and they married on November 30, 1935. They had 3 children: Mary Frances (Mitzi), Robert Lee, and David George. Later, Mary and Bob purchased a farm east of Ansley, Nebraska and they moved there in 1953. All three children attended and graduated from Ansley Public School. They later moved and lived near Kilgore, 1964-1970. Maribeth has lived at the Callaway Good Life Center since 2016. On her 100th birthday, a party was organized at the Center by her sons. She was able to see relatives and friends that she hadn’t seen for years. Mary died on Sunday, May 6, 2018. at the Callaway Good Life Center in Callaway, Nebraska Mary is survived by two sons, Bob (Susan) of Seneca, NE and Dave (Karen) of Ansley, NE, six grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Bob and daughter Mitzi. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 10, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow, Ne. with Reverend Jim Koontz officiating. Burial will be in the Kilgore Cemetery in Kilgore, Ne. at 2:30 p.m. Central Time. Visitation will be at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow Wednesday, May 9, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Memorials may be offered to the Ansley EMT’s.
