Mary M McConnell

Mary M. McConnell age 100, of Mullen, NE, passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2019, at the St. Luke’s Good Samaritan Society Care Home in Kearney, NE.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at 1:00 PM MT at the Cedarview Cemetery in Mullen, NE with Pastor Insung Kim officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 4, 2019, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM MT, with family greeting 4:00 to 6:00 PM MT at the Mullen Funeral Home in Mullen, NE. Memorials are suggested to St. Luke’s in Kearney, NE or the Pioneer Memorial Rest Home in Mullen, NE. Mullen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mary was born December 9, 1918, in Hecla, NE to Clarence “Snip” and Bertha (Frasier) Revere. Mary attended rural school and graduated in 1936 from Mullen High School. On November 4, 1939, she married Robert Eugene McConnell. Three children were born to this union; Marclyn, Robert Gary, and Terry.  Mr. and Mrs. McConnell later divorced. 

Mary cleaned at the Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home and Hospital.  After she retired from the nursing home and hospital she delivered meals on wheels to the “old people” until she was in her early 90’s.   Mary enjoyed working in her yard and calling Bingo at the nursing home. Mary was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the hospital auxiliary, and the United Methodist Church.

Mary is survived by daughters Marclyn “Mick” Garrow of Lincoln, NE and Terry (Dean) Fisher of Amherst, NE, nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, son Robert Gary McConnell, two sisters, Bernice and Evelyn, a brother Ralph, and two great grandchildren.
