A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Arnold. The burial will be in the Sand Valley Cemetery near Callaway. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the St. Agnes Catholic Church or Arnold Volunteer Fire and Rescue. A visitation and time to greet family will be held on Monday evening 5:30 to 7:00 PM with a rosary service to follow at 7:00 PM at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Maurice L. Andre, age 83, of Arnold Nebraska, peacefully passed away September 10th, 2024, at his home surrounded by family.
He was born on January 18th, 1941, to Verl and Esther (Kelly) Andre in Arnold Nebraska.
Maurice attended school at Arnold and graduated with the class of 1960.
He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Mary Anderson on April 8th, 1961, in Arnold Nebraska. To this union, seven children were born. Eugene, Richard, Norman, Michael, Colleen, Jolleen, and Roger.
Maurice was always a hard worker and typically had at least two jobs. Following graduation, he worked in the newspaper business in several different towns. Maurice returned to Arnold and worked for Arnold Public Schools for 39 years and connected with many of the kids from kindergarten through their high school days. Also, while working at the school, he had a regular bus route and took kids to many of their activities. Maurice also had his own autobody shop where he worked nights and weekends. After retiring from the school, Maurice continued with his autobody shop and drove many miles hauling corn from the fields to the elevator.
At age 44, he started his initial fight with cancer. After many years of being cancer-free, he had a cancer infected kidney removed. He also fought cancer in different organs and even in his bones. After a courageous battle, he eventually succumbed to this horrible disease.
Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, Verl and Esther Andre, brothers, Myron and Keith Andre, brothers-in-law Edward Anderson and Gail Woodward, and great-grandchild Mack Wyckoff.
Left to cherish the memories he gave us are his wife, Mary, seven children, Eugene (Chris) Andre of Arnold, NE; Richard (Bev) Andre of Ogallala, NE; Norman Andre of Aurora, CO; Michael (Anne) Andre of Elkhorn, NE; Colleen (Dave) Reinhard of Hastings, NE; Jolleen (Dan) Trumbull of Callaway, NE; and Roger (Angie) Andre of Alma, NE. Sister JoAnne Woodward of Loveland, CO. 15 Grandchildren, DJ (Vanessa) Andre, Jami (Nick) Hupfer, Robert Forrester, Derek (Ciera) Andre, Olivia (Breydon) Andre, Jeremy Andre, Trenton Andre, Devon Andre, Zach Reinhard, Emma Reinhard, Kelsey (Rusty) Wyckoff, Brittany Trumbull, Natalie (Quincy) Trumbull, Haleigh Andre, and Dylan Andre. Nine great-grandchildren Noah, Theodore, Watson, Jace, Jada, Easton, Hudson, Rylee, and Rayden.
