Callaway, NE- O’Dean Beeken age 95, died March 9, 2018, at the Callaway Good Life Center in Callaway. Graveside services will be held on Monday, March 19, 2018, at 2:00 PM at the Arnold Cemetery at Arnold, NE with Pastor Bill Williams officiating. Interment will be in the Arnold Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Callaway Good Life Center.Dorothy O’Dean Beeken was born on June 13, 1922, at Hot Springs, Arkansas to Algie Edmund and Alphia Matthews Gossett. She graduated from the Carthage High School.O’Dean worked at the post office, John’s Business College in Hot Springs, worked for the Civil Service in the postal department at Army-Navy Hospital in Hot Springs. O’Dean was married to Robert Beeken at Hot Springs on December 1, 1945. A son Bobby Dean was born to this union on February 13, 1947. O’Dean helped Bob on the farm with sheep, cattle, and haying.Later in years she worked at the Poole Department Store and became part owner of the store with Dot Gast. She worked for Dr. Lyle Suche in the Veterinary Clinic for many years, clerked at the sale barn and farm sales, all while continuing to help Bob with the haying and restoring of tractors. O’Dean enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, crafts, and cards. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob, her son Bobby Dean, her sisters; Faye and Vera and their husbands, a brother's Ray and Glenn, and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Tom and Martha Beeken.Survivors include her nieces; Trevia and husband Bill Durley, and Ravonna, many nieces and nephews, and special friends, Ralph and Karla Nansel.
