Paul William John, 70, of Broken Bow, Nebraska, passed away October 25, 2017 at Broken Bow Care and Rehabilitation Center. Paul was born October 29, 1946 in Ord, Nebraska to Hubert and Jane Ellen (Turner). He attended grade school in Sidney, Nebraska. The family then moved to Fowler, Colorado, and Paul graduated from Fowler High School. He went on to attend Otero Jr. College in La Junta, Colorado for two years, where he met the love of his life and wife of 49 years, Virginia “Ginny” Clarke. On August 24, 1968, Paul and Ginny married in Fowler, Colorado. They had two children, Christopher Paul "Chris" John and Laura Janell. In 1974, the family moved to Loup City, Nebraska, where Paul worked for Community Action. After a year, the family moved to Comstock, Nebraska and Paul worked for Rowse Rakes as a welder. In 1984, they moved to Broken Bow where Paul worked for 22 years at Heritage Hall Nursing Home. Paul had a heart for helping others, and this extended into his job. His calming presence, caring nature, and easy-going demeanor made him a favorite caregiver for many residents over the years. Paul was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge in Broken Bow. He enjoyed hunting, riding motorcycles, listening to music, and visiting the family’s house in Comstock. Paul loved spending time with family and friends, and was known for his sharp sense of humor and penchant for giving good advice. Paul’s love for his family ran deep. He was especially proud of becoming a Grandpa to his two grandchildren, Clark and Daphne. Paul cherished his time with them and saw every moment as a gift. Paul is survived by his wife Ginny of Broken Bow; daughter Laura (Joe) Christensen of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren Clark and Daphne Christensen of Huntsville, AL; sister Linda Shumard of Aurora, CO, daughter-in-law Erin Freeman of Omaha, and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Chris, and grandson Charles “Charlie” Grant Christensen. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Funeral services will be held on Monday October 30, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with Pastor Marty Robbins officiating. Burial will be in the Douglas Grove Cemetery at Comstock. Visitation will be held on Sunday October 29, 2017, 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary with the family greeting friends 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Govier Brothers.
