Broken Bow, NE

Funeral Service will be Friday, January 26, 2024, at 11:00 am at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Broken Bow, NE. Burial will follow in the Broken Bow Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25th from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm with family greeting from 4:00 to 6:30 pm at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Rev. Robert A Strawn, Broken Bow, NE, went to be with his Lord and Savior January 22, 2024.  He was born August 3, 1936, to Donald Strawn and Helen (nee Stegeman) in Belvidere, IL.   He was raised in Cherry Valley, IL.  He graduated from East High School in Rockford, IL, Concordia Junior College, Ft. Wayne, IN, and Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield IL.  He married Ann (nee Nyman) on June 13th, 1959.  

He was ordained in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod in 1961.  He served congregations in Kadoka and Midland, SD (1961-64), Scribner and Snyder, NE (1964-1969), Gering, NE (1969-1976) and Loveland, CO (1976-1993).  He colloquized into the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod in 1993 and served St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Broken, Bow, NE from that time until he retired in 2002.   He and Ann retired to Broken Bow.  

Robert and Ann were blessed with five children, 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.  

He is survived by his wife, Ann, daughter-in-law, Kathleen Strawn, Sun City, AZ, son Rev. James Strawn (Kristy), Archbold, Ohio, daughter Ruth Strawn, West Fargo, ND, son Rev. Paul Strawn (Kristi), Spring Lake Park, MN, and son Matthew Strawn (Naoko) Hitoyoshi City, Japan.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Edward and sister-in-law, Lorraine and his oldest son, Mark.
