Ansley, NE- Richard Grant age 81 of Ansley, died Sunday November 26, 2017 at his home in Ansley.   Funeral services will be held on Friday December 1, 2017 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Broken Bow with Father Jim Hunt officiating.  Burial will be in the Ansley Cemetery with Military Honors.  A visitation will be held on Thursday 8:00 AM To 8:00 PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with the family greeting friends 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.    Richard “Rich” Grant was born May 9th, 1936 in Mullen, Nebraska to Errett and Nina (Dare) Grant. He attended school in Hayes Center, Nebraska. Richard was a PFC in the army from January 13th, 1954 until 1956. He returned home to Hayes Center where Marjean was student teaching. The two met and moved to Ansley and were married June 6th, 1959. To this union they were blessed with 5 children: Listy, Karmela, Todd, Donelle, and Stacey, 15 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Rich worked construction, drove truck, and enjoyed driving the school bus. During the summer months when Marjean was not teaching school, the two enjoyed travelling together in the truck. He loved hunting, fishing, and dancing; he also enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his dogs. Rich was an avid Husker football and volleyball fan. He was preceded in death by both parents, grandparents, Mother and Father In-laws, four sisters, two brother in-laws, and one infant child. He is survived by his wife, Marjean Grant of Ansley; four daughters: Listy (Alan) Schmidt of Kearney, Karmela (Mark) Shafer, Donelle (Tim) Gestwite, Stacey Marsh, and one son Todd (Marilyn) Grant all of Ansley. Sisters in-law Dollene (Ray) Muths of Goehner, Dorene Hoffman of McCook, Nancy Baker of Grand Island, Brother in-law Bill Welte of Oklahoma. Brothers John (Valerie) Grant of Colorado, Charles (Ruth) Grant of Oregon, Errett (Novella) Grant of Washington, and sister Janice Carpenter of Washington. And numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Family requests that guests arrive in casual dress or your Husker Best.
