Sargent, NE - Ricky Hightower age 76 of Sargent, NE passed away December 17, 2024.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Sargent, NE with Military Honors. Burial will be later in the Zion Cemetery in Hartman, AR. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Sargent Fire Department. Govier Brothers Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Online words of encouragement may be left at www.govierbrothers.com
Born in Russellville, Arkansas, on January 24, 1948, to Charles and Billie Hightower, Ricky grew up surrounded by the love of his family and the natural beauty of the Ozarks. He was one of three brothers, including his late brother Ronnie Hightower, and his surviving brother, Randy Hightower. Ricky carried the lessons of his upbringing in Arkansas throughout his life, drawing strength from his roots and maintaining a deep connection to family and nature.
After an accomplished career, Ricky retired to Sargent, Nebraska, drawn by his love of turkey hunting. He became a dedicated hunting guide, sharing his knowledge and joy of the sport by teaching children how to hunt.
On August 2, 1968, Ricky married the love of his life, Joyce (Lee) Hightower, and they spent 56 wonderful years together. He was a devoted husband, the father of two sons, Jess and William, and a loving grandfather to four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of whom he cherished deeply.
A true patriot, Ricky honorably served his country with distinction as a member of the U.S. Army Green Berets during the Vietnam War, completing two tours and earning numerous decorations for his valor and service.
After his retirement, Ricky remained dedicated to his community, serving on the Sargent City Council where he worked tirelessly to improve the lives of those around him.
Ricky will be remembered for his steadfast dedication to family, country, and community, as well as his love for the great outdoors. His courage, leadership, and selflessness leave an indelible mark on all who knew him.
