His days on this earth ended on December 1, 2017 in Broken Bow, Nebraska.   In 1938, he began attending the Bristol country school, which from their home could be reached by walking a canyon trail through the pasture. In 1946, he began attending Arcadia High School, graduating in 1950. After high school, he attended Kearney College for a summer session and then began teaching school—first at a school in the Sandhills, then at a school by Sargent where the total enrollment consisted of three little boys.   In 1953, Bob was drafted into the United States Army serving until his honorable discharge in 1955. After his discharge, he attended the Nebraska State Trade School where he was trained in automotive repair. While at the Trade School, a young, single secretary, Laura Luebbe, caught his eye. After a first date to the roller skating rink, the two soon became a forever pair, marrying on December 21, 1956. To this union, three children were born: Duane, Teresa and Karen.   Bob loved working with his hands, troubleshooting and diagnosing necessary automotive repair issues. He could often be seen poring over a shop manual, attempting to make an accurate diagnosis. Many entrusted their vehicles to him because it was known that he would make every effort to root out the problem. He used this mechanical expertise at many places of employment in the Nebraska towns of Lincoln, Ainsworth, Sutton, Milford, and finally at Sargent—working for the past 34 years for Fellows Farms.   In his spare time, Bob enjoyed hunting, woodworking, photography, and more recently, genealogy. Learning was important to him, and if he wanted to acquire a new skill, he would take a class or study a book in order to gain it.   However, above all these pursuits, Bob’s greatest devotion was to his God, his wife, and his family. He relished every moment of family reunions with its times of reminiscing. Each member of his family keenly understood they had a strong advocate and intercessor in Grandpa. Till the very end, his love for Laura was evident—missing their 61st anniversary by a mere three weeks.   Survivors include his wife, Laura, of Sargent; son, Duane (Penny) Schultz of Marshall, TX; daughters, Teresa (Don) Fellows of Sargent, NE, and Karen (Kevin) Mauck of Kenesaw, NE; grandchildren: Brandon Littleton, Timothy Schultz, Kristina Fuentes, Joseph Schultz, Brenton Fellows, Andrew Fellows, Ryan Fellows, Aarin Fellows, Kylie Steiner, Ashley Gerry, and Avery Mauck; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Lois Conner of Arizona City, AZ; brother, Marion (Charlene) Schultz of Litchfield, NE, and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Garnet Thompson, and brother-in-law, Edward Conner.     Funeral services will be held Wednesday December 6th at 10 a.m. at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ord, Ne. with Pastor Glenda Pearson officiating.  Burial will be in the Arcadia Cemetery with military rites.  Visitation will be Tuesday Dec 5, 2017  9 a.m. to 8 p.m. with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary.  Memorials may be offered to the Bethany Lutheran Church, or Sargent Fire Department and Rescue unit.
