Ron G. Beavers was born July 15, 1932 to Earl and Dorothy (Lowder) Beavers in Broken Bow, NE. He passed away Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017 in Progreso, Mexico. Ron graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1950. While in high school, Ron started hauling cattle and freight to and from Omaha, NE. He also followed the wheat harvest, as well as working cattle and helping his dad move houses. Ron was drafted into the Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany where he served his time from 1953-1955. After his discharge from the military he returned home. Ron was united in marriage to Mildred Jensen on April 26, 1955 and had three children Mary, Bill and Jeanie. Ron was a member of the American Legion, Township Board, Cemetery Board, One Box Habitat Board, served twice on the One Box Hunt Board, Pheasants Forever and became a past shooter of 20 years. Ron was also part of the investment club, coffee club and received the AOY award. Ron loved playing cards (Bridge), going to casinos and fishing. He enjoyed fishing so much that he purchased a cabin at Sherman Lake in Loup City NE. Ron wasn’t very fond of the winter months; therefore, he also purchased a condo in Harlingen, Texas where he would winter. Ron was a very social man and he loved spending time with friends and family sharing a drink or two along with many stories. Ron will be greatly missed. Ron was survived by daughter, Mary (Randy) Nichols of Roca, NE. Son, Bill (Paula Grupe) and Grandson, Kristopher Beavers of Elkhorn, NE. daughter, Jeanie Beavers of Broken Bow, NE, brother Dennis (Mavis) Beavers of Cozad NE, brother, John (Donna) Beavers of Broken Bow, NE, and a special friend, Judy Brohman of Callaway NE. Ron was preceded by his parents, Earl and Dorothy Beavers and his wife, Mildred Beavers. Services will be held on Saturday December 16, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow with Pastor Todd Karges officiating. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery with Military Honors. Memorials are suggested to the One Box Foundation or the VFW Post # 3576.
