Rosa Lea Edwards

Rosa Lea Edwards age 87 of Grand Island, formerly of Comstock died August 23, 2024, at the Emerald Lakeview Care Home in Grand Island.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 3:00 PM at the Wescott Baptist Church in Comstock. The burial will be in the Douglas Grove Cemetery at Comstock. A visitation will be held on Wednesday one hour before service time at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Wescott Baptist Church in Comstock. Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of the arrangements. 

Rosa Lea Edwards was born on March 7, 1937, at Almeria, NE to Archie and Beulah (Dunbar) Drake. Rosa grew up in Comstock and graduated from Comstock High School. She was married to Donald Edwards on August 4, 1956. Rosa Lea and Don honeymooned in Yellowstone. The family lived in many states, Arizonia, Nebraska, Idaho, North Dakota, and eventually moved to Ord, NE. After Don’s retirement, they moved to Comstock. 

Rosa Lea was a master quilter, doing crafts, and other sewing. She was a Sunday School teacher at Wescott Baptist Church. She loved her church and loved teaching the children. 

Cooking was another of her great talents. She could put a meal together at a moment’s notice. 

Survivors include her children, Tommy Edwards of Grand Island, Wendy White of Grand Island, Linda (Bill) Granger of Sargent, and Ben (Lori) Edwards of Scotia. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren. Other survivors include her 4 brothers, Royal (Annie) Drake of Victoria TX, Bob (Terry) Drake of Comstock, Bill (Mary Jane) Drake of Berwyn, and Dan (Darla) Drake of Bassett. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and brother Alan and his wife Zelda Drake.
