April 20, 1920 — February 20, 2018

Rosa Tiff                                                                                                                      Rosa Virginia Morgan Tiff was born April 30, 1920 to Guy Thomas Morgan and Mary Bethel Dawson Morgan, on a farm near Leigh, NE.    She died peacefully on February 20, 2018 in Boonville, Mo. near the home of her son. The memorial service will be at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow at 10AM March 10, visitation will be held at Govier Brothers Funeral Home Friday March 9, 5-7PM. When Rosa was 6 months old the family moved to Winner, South Dakota.  In 1926 they moved to York, NE., where she received all of her elementary and secondary education.  Upon graduating from York High School she continued her lifelong love of learning and reading as she began teaching in the elementary schools of West Purdum School, Turner School west of Brewster, Hersch School north of Dunning, and finally spending 32 years in Broken Bow Public Schools. Rosa would teach all winter and then by attending summer school, workshops, night classes and by taking correspondence courses she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Kearney State Teacher’s College in 1957. A Master in Elementary Education was achieved in 1967 with an endorsement in Media in 1969, both from Kearney State. Early in Rosa’s teaching career she met Floyd Arthur Tiff (Tuffy).  They were married Feb. 6, 1943 in the Baptist Parsonage in Broken Bow. Tuffy and Rosa were blessed with 3 children, John Thomas, Roy Edward, and Mary Janelle.  In 1953 Rosa and Tuffy made their home in Berwyn, NE until Tuffy’s death in July, 1987.  Shortly thereafter she moved to Broken Bow and eventually to Lincoln.  Failing health finally necessitated the move to Riverdell Care Center in Boonville, Mo. Rosa was an avid reader, promoting reading wherever and whenever she could.  She helped form the Mid-Nebraska Reading Association in the 1960’s. She was a joiner and leader.  She liked being in different groups of people.  Although several of the groups are no longer meeting she held the memories of those she worked with close to her heart.  She was a charter member of Alpha Epsilon, Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International, and the George A. Custer Chapter National Society of the Daughter of the American Revolution.  She loved God and believed her talent for teaching was a gift from him. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Tuffy, her son John, grandchildren Steven Tiff and Janelle Hoaglund, sister Margaret Pethoud, and brother Roy Morgan. Immediate family surviving includes Kay Tiff of Windsor, Colorado, Ed and Sharon Tiff of Boonville, Mo., Mary and Cliff Critchfield of Lincoln, NE.  Surviving grandchildren are Anita Schauer of Houston, Tx., Michelle (Kerry)Cramer of Highland, Ill., Pam (Jeff) Chitwood of New Franklin, Mo., Heather (Ken)Smith of Lincoln, NE., Kristen Triplett and friend Keith Long of Lincoln, NE, Rachel Critchfield of Kearney, NE., Darcy Critchfield of Lincoln, NE., and Alison (Eldon) Duryea of Merna, NE.  Also surviving are 8 great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. The family will always cherish the memory of Rosa’s love for her family, her wit, and her desire to help however and whenever she could. In Lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Women Scholarship Fund or the Broken Bow Food Pantry. Rosa left this final summary of her life:      It was a good life, God is good.   Memorial services will be held on Saturday March 10, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow with Pastor Jim Koontz officiating. Inurnment will be in the Ansley Cemetery.  Govier Brothers Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.  A time to visit with the family will be held on Friday evening March 9, 5 PM to 7 PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary.
