Ruth Ann (Franssen) Overgard, 70 died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2018, at the Good Life Center in Callaway, NE. Ms. Overgard was born Oct. 19, 1947, in Callaway, NE the daughter of Herman and Marcella Franssen. She lived in Callaway where she attended Callaway Public Schools graduating in 1966. She attended 1 year of college at Kearney State College. She was an employee of the Loup Valley Queen (local newspaper) for a number of years and eventually worked at the B-D factory in Broken Bow, NE. Ms. Overgard was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church and was united in marriage to Richard Overgard on July 3, 1971. They made their home in Paxton where she worked a number of years at the TRW factory in Ogallala. Upon the death of her husband, she moved to Callaway and attained her CNA license and was employed at the (then) Good Samaritan Home as CNA and activities assistant for 11 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Marcella Franssen, three brothers, Jim Franssen of Broken Bow, NE. Wayne Franssen of Santa Ana, CA, and Dale Franssen and one Sister-in-law Cheryl Franssen, wife of the deceased Dale Franssen of Kearney, NE, her late husband Richard Overgard of Paxton, NE, two nephews, Eric Moheng and Nathanael Moheng of St. Paul, NE and one infant niece, Lori Marie Franssen, daughter of the late Wayne Franssen and wife Pilar Franssen. Survivors include her brother Larry Franssen and wife Cheryl Franssen of Callaway, NE, two sisters-in-law, Sharon Franssen of Broken Bow, NE, wife of the late Jim Franssen and Pilar Franssen of Santa Ana, California, wife of the late Wayne Franssen, one sister, Virginia (Franssen) Moheng and brother-in-law Jerry Moheng of St, Paul, NE. She had many nieces and nephews (15) including their respected families. Ruth loved her Lord and attended church until she no longer could because of health reasons. She loved to spend time with family and friends, always joking around with them and visiting with them. She enjoyed balding, especially Christmas gifts for friends and family. She loved to draw, paint, art projects, and crocheting. She crocheted many afghans and other items for family and friends. She had a vibrant personality and will always be remembered for her love, devotion and sincere generosity. She always had a joke to tell. She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow, NE were in charge of Ms. Overgard’s arrangements and her memorial will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church on April 6, 2018, at 2:00 PM with Father Thomas Gudipalli officiating. Inurnment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery at a later date. Memorials can be made to the Family for later designation.
