Broken Bow, NE- Sharon M. Collins age 82 of rural Broken Bow, died Sunday, November 10, 2024, at the Callaway Good Life Center.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with Pastor Wayne Hasselquist officiating. Casual dress please. Sharon Marie Collins was born on February 24, 1942, at North Platte, NE to Ernest Leon and Dorothy Maxine (Latimer) Cox. Sharon attended school in North Platte and graduated from North Platte High School in 1960. After high school she attended beauty school in North Platte. She worked for a short time as a hairdresser before marrying Wayne Collins on September 14, 1963, in North Platte. The couple made their home on the Collins Farm in the Round Valley Community between Broken Bow and Sargent. Sharon worked at home raising their three children, Steve, Debbie, and Crystal. After the kids were raised, she went to work at MNIS as a House Mother, then Jack n’ Jill Grocery Store in Broken Bow and baked pies. She would work in the deli and Jack n’ Jill for twenty years. After Sharon’s retirement she went to work at the Sargent Variety Store in Sargent.
Sharon and Wayne were members of the Loup Valley Road Riders motorcycle club. They enjoyed going on motorcycles to Glacier Park and Yosemite Park. They also enjoyed snowmobiling. They went to Yellowstone to ride snowmobiles with friends. They also would ride snowmobiles in South Dakota.
Sharon is survived by her husband Wayne, a son Steve Collins of Minnesota, two daughters: Debbie Brunner of Doniphan, NE and Crystal (Terry) Erwin of Mount Vernon, IN. She is also survived by four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law Rose Cox of Comanche, OK.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Dwight and John, a grandson Baby Boy Collins, and in-laws Mabel & Milton Collins.
