Shirley Land

Shirley Ann Land, 86, of Callaway, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017.

Born January 24, 1931 in Clarks, Nebraska, the daughter of the late Walter and Amelia Tobin.  Shirley spent her youth in the Arcadia area and Graduated from Comstock High School.  On June 21, 1948 she was united in marriage to Francis (Bud) Land.  Shirley and Bud were blessed with seven children.

Shirley wore many shoes. Her greatest pleasure was her family, cooking and baking gave her great joy, her cinnamon rolls were the bomb, her personal hobby, was writing poetry. We all love her and will miss her.

Survived by her children, Steven Land (Kay) Broken Bow, Dennis Land (Sue) Callaway, Peggy Tangeman (Ron) Callaway, Kathy Willis (Ted) Callaway, Nancy Brass (Don) Kearney, Sherri Pandorf (Jerry) Callaway, Ginger Meyer (Deron) Scribner. Fifteen grandchildren, and seventeen great grandchildren. Also survived by one sister Margaret Nelson Lincoln, and hundreds of close friends.

Proceeded in death by her husband, parents, and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday December 27, 2017 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Broken Bow with Father Jim Hunt officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Tuesday December 26, 2017 at Govier Bros Mortuary 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the family greeting friends.  A rosary service will follow at 7:00 PM at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Knights of Columbus, ARC of Buffalo County or the Callaway Good Life Center.
