Teresa Alma (Roes) Wehling, age 96, of Broken Bow passed away on February 3, 2018 at Brookestone View nursing home in Broken Bow, NE. Teresa was born to William and Minnie (Gasseling) Roes on February 2, 1922. She was delivered by her father in a rock house he had built west of Canton, NE. Teresa spent her childhood in the Hemingford area and attended school by way of horse drawn wagon. She eventually moved to Denver, CO with lifelong friend Arlene Leonard, where she met Army Sergeant John Wehling. They were married August 8th, 1944 in Hemingford and their marriage was blessed with three children, Catherine, William, and James. John died from a fall while working on the Dalles Dam in Oregon on December 11, 1954. Teresa and her children returned to Littleton, CO where she was wed to Charles Wehling on February 10, 1962. They built their lives together on a farm on the west table between Callaway and Broken Bow and their family grew with the additional blessings of Edward and Donna. Overlooking the canyons and rolling hills of the countryside, Teresa dedicated herself to her family, finding joy in making quilts, tending a bountiful garden and orchard, making meals for large family gatherings and journaling the daily activities of the farm. She was also a devout Catholic who served her church as a member of the St. Joseph Altar Society, Busy Workers Club, DCCW, a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Parish Council. Whether it was a meal for a funeral, sewing for infants, or the simple act of her daily rosary, Teresa always answered the call of her church. Teresa has been reunited in Heaven with her parents William and Minnie Gasseling; husbands John Wehling and Charles Wehling; brothers Everett, Albert, Victor, Herman, Marcus, Bernard, Don and Lawrence (Roes); sons William and James (Wehling); and grandsons John Durfee and Larry Wehling. Teresa will be remembered for her strength, love, and faith by her daughter Catherine Rivers and her husband Monroe, of Topeka, KS; daughter-in-law Diane Wehling of Broken Bow, son Ed Wehling and his wife, Kim, of Broken Bow; daughter, Donna Stamp and her husband Greg, of Broken Bow.
