Vaughn LeRoy Lyne

August 24, 1932 — March 3, 2018

Broken Bow, NE- Vaughn L. Lyne age 85 of Broken Bow, died Saturday March 3, 2018 at the Brookestone View Care Home in Broken Bow. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday March 7, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with Pastor Bill Williams officiating.  Inurnment with military honors will be at the Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, NE. A register book may be signed at Govier Brothers Mortuary. Vaughn was born on August 24, 1932 at Jewel County KS to Glenn and Leila Lyne.  Vaughn served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.  After his military services Vaugh worked with his father at Gothenburg Electric where they did electrical work and sold boats and boat motors.  He was married to Marilyn Dillmon.  They made their home in Gothenburg.  In February of 1963 they moved to Broken Bow.  Vaughn started Lyne Appliance.  He sold the store to his son Matt and retired from the appliance business in 1998. He then sold Sunheat Heaters for many years.  When Vaughn was younger he liked to golf, fish and hunt.  He was an avid antique collector and dealer.  Vaugh enjoyed going to auctions and having coffee with his friends.  Vaughn was always active in the communities that he lived in.  He served on the fire departments in both Gothenburg and Broken Bow, was a member of the AOY, Nebraska One Box Pheasant Hunt, and was the Mayor of Broken Bow.  Vaughn is survived by his son Matt (Nancy) Lyne of Broken Bow, two granddaughters; Brooke Wright of Grand Island and Jenna Chapp of Omaha.  He is also survived by seven great grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Minor.
